STANDARDEFINITION is an unnofficial Oak Wakeskates Team video. Its an ALL WINCH film. We shot it over the last 2 years and it turned out as your not-so-typical video. I like to think of it as a jam video. It has everybody montaged together kinda like on a winch spot where everyone just takes turns and pushes each other to bring home a clip. It was all shot with my old Canon GL1. I’ve owned this camera for several years and have brought it along on most of my wakeskating adventures.. somehow it has survived countless drops and slams on concrete, splashs, sprays, scratches, and even being fully submerged in the St. Johns River–only to work better than ever before. Lets face it, the heads are probably pretty whooped and the footage comes out grittier than most John Wayne Pictures, but the camera just wouldn’t die. As we kept using it, the clips kept piling up. So as long as the camera lived our project prospered. My eagerness to test the durability only left me suprised to find out that the GL could take as much of a beating as our bodies endured on the winch trips. It just felt right, the 3 chip footy captured the vibe.
So when my external drive was filled, the editing process began–thus Standardefinition was born. This video is a way for me to give back to my friends. I wanted this video to capture the drive and passion for wakeskating that everyone of these riders possess. So I dedicate this film to them and to all who helped me along the way. Thank you so very much and I hope u enjoy it.
